Michelle Jones

I was appointed as Director of Governance for Great Schools Trust in February 2022 and have since been appointed as the Trust’s Company Secretary and Data Protection Officer. I have worked in the education sector since 2013, specialising in governance, compliance and data protection since 2017. 

I am a keen learner with avid attention to detail and I have completed numerous governance and data protection qualifications; the NGA Clerks Development programme, Chartered Governance Institutes Level 4 qualification in academy governance, and the IT Governance EU General Data Protection Regulation Foundation Course to name a few.

As Director of Governance, I work closely with and advise the Board of Trustees and Executive Leaders on compliance and policy to ensure that the Trust remains compliant with regard to law and legislation.  I am also the board’s governance professional and provide administrative support, advice and guidance leading up to and during board meetings and local academy council meetings.

I enjoy working for schools and knowing that what I do is having a positive impact on the children. Although I’m not in a classroom, I believe that the role I play does affect the children positively. Ensuring that the Trust Board are fulfilling their core governance functions and adhering to the law, legislation and policy mean that the children are safe, happy and being taught a high-quality education.
