The £780K project was completed in 18 weeks and follows on from an earlier capital investment in excess of £300K to replace the rooflights and roof, and improve the insulation, of the sports hall facilities. The new windows and doors will improve the environmental and acoustic conditions and help to reduce the school’s overall energy usage.
The school has also recently secured over £1.3M of DfE funding to upgrade the academy fire alarms and emergency lighting and replace all internal fire doors and screens to the main school and sports hall. Work has already completed on the fire alarms and emergency lighting and it is expected that work to replace the fire doors and screens will commence in November.
In total this represents over £2.4M of funds invested to improve the quality of teaching and learning for students at King’s Hawthornes.
