Neil Hughes

Neil brings over 30 years of experience in public service and community engagement to his role as Attendance and Partnerships Lead at the Great Schools Trust. His extensive background in supporting families and working collaboratively with a wide range of agencies gives him a deep understanding of how to help children thrive in the classroom.

Neil leads attendance strategy across all eight schools in the Trust. He oversees the development and delivery of data-informed, trust-wide approaches to attendance, ensuring interventions are effective, compassionate, and consistent with the Trust's values, while remaining responsive to the needs of each individual school community.

Neil is passionate about building positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and local communities. His approach centres on removing barriers to education and helping every child enjoy and succeed in their learning journey.

Working across the whole Trust, Neil continues to strengthen partnerships and drive its mission of making every child a successful citizen, bringing a strategic, trust-wide lens to attendance while staying grounded in the relationship-first approach that has always defined his work.
