This notice explains what happens to the messages you type into Laura, the chat assistant on this website. Please read it before you start.
Laura is an automated assistant that helps parents and carers feel heard and points you to the right person or process. She cannot make decisions, cannot handle a formal complaint, and does not deal with safeguarding. She is not a person and can sometimes be wrong.
Please do not enter names, your child's details, or other personal information. Laura does not need them, and you should not share sensitive details in this chat.
Great Schools Trust is the data controller. To generate replies, your messages are sent to OpenAI, which acts as our data processor. OpenAI is based in the United States, so this involves a transfer of information outside the UK, made under the safeguards in OpenAI's data processing agreement. Under those terms your messages are not used to train OpenAI's models.
We process this information as part of our public task as a school and our legitimate interest in helping parents raise concerns effectively. We do not ask for, and Laura is instructed not to handle, special-category information such as health or safeguarding details.
Conversations with Laura are not logged or stored by the Trust after your reply is generated.
You have rights over your personal information, including to access it, correct it, or object to its use. Because Laura does not store conversations, there is usually nothing held to retrieve. To exercise your rights, or if you have concerns, contact the Trust's Data Protection Officer at DPO@greatschoolstrust.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
If a child may be at risk, do not use this chat. Contact the school's safeguarding lead or office, call 999 in an emergency, Childline on 0800 1111, or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
