Katie Sharp
Director of Education
After studying English and Cultural History, I became an English Teacher serving the community in which I grew up. I then become a founding teacher of the Great Schools Trust’s first school, King’s Leadership Academy Warrington. I then moved into leadership as SENDCo, Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Director of Teaching and Learning as Vice Principal. I was appointed as Principal of King's Leadership Academy Warrington in 2021, a challenge I was privileged to undertake. I am currently Director of Education at the Great Schools Trust.
My role as Director of Education involves leading school improvement across the trust - I support the principals with internal self-evaluation and capacity building. This has recently resulted in two of the academies achieving their first ever 'Good' OFSTED grade, and another academy maintaining this rating in 2023.
As someone who was raised in a deprived area, I am passionate about ensuring all children succeed irrespective of their background. I believe that education is a human right and fundamental to children’s life chances.
